Through the Oregon Cascades The Cascade Mountains of western Oregon is the setting for a mountain railroad that climbs from deep within the Willamette Valley to nearly 5,000 feet above sea level. This program, "The Long Grade", begins at Eugene Yard and heads south into the foothills of the Cascades. A 40 mile 1.8% grade between Oakridge and Cascade Summit puts UP's newest locomotives to the test and keeps train crews on their toes. The line wraps around horseshoe curves, crosses trestles, and disappears through numerous rock sheds and tunnels before reaching the top of the pass. Shot in beautiful hi-definition. 2 hrs. 35 min.
