Amtrak 40 1971-2011 This DVD presents a series of scenes that give a sense of what Amtrak has been about and how it has changed during its 40 years of operation. The opening footage is of the Amtrak locomotive #156 in the red-nosed Phase I livery that lasted until 1976 bringing the "Adirondack" into Plattsburgh, NY. You will see brief segments of vintage as well as current footage that are quite stunning. The 90-minute video contains footage shot from locomotive cabs, primarily the Genesis. It also includes cab rides on the "Downeaster", "Cardinal" and "Northeast Corridor" train heading from New Haven to New York's Penn Station. You will also see various scenes aboard Amtrak trains from coaches, to the dining car to the sleepers to the kitchen of the diner. You are sure to enjoy the informative narration as you sit back and enjoy an evening of four decades of traveling.
