Copper Mining Railroads Vol. 1 DVD Jim Terrell filmed several copper operations in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. He was allowed to film the operations from the mine pits, the crushers, and the smelters to the loading of the final product into freight cars. Each facility had its own rail line to connect with the class 1 roads, mostly the Southern Pacific. There were extensive narrow gauge railroads that moved materials intra-plant. You will visit the Phelps Dodge Morenci Mine, American Smelting and Refining, Inspiration Consolidated Copper, Magna Arizona, Kennecott and more. These operations utilized ALCO and Baldwin power as well as an assortment of “critters” in plant. Oh yes, the wild desert scenery is magnificent! One hour and 40 minutes of fine film. All Color with narration.
